BIOCHEMISTRY Correction for “Confinement of caspase-12 proteolytic activity to autoprocessing,” by Sophie Roy, Jeffrey R. Sharom, Caroline Houde, Thomas P. Loisel, John P. Vaillancourt, Wei Shao, Maya Saleh, and Donald W. Nicholson, which appeared in issue 11, March 18, 2008, of Proc Natl Acad Sci USA (105:4133–4138; first published March 10, 2008; 10.1073/pnas.0706658105). The authors note that Fig. 6 appeared incorrectly. There was an error in the alignment of the molecular mass markers, and minor adjustments have been made to the assignment of caspase12 bands. The authors also note that the source of the anticaspase-12 antibody for Fig. 6 was Sigma (clone 14F7). This error does not affect the conclusions of the article. The corrected figure and its corresponding legend appear below.

Expanded methyl-sensitive cut counting reveals hypomethylation as an epigenetic state that highlights functional sequences of the genome.
Methyl-sensitive cut counting (MSCC) with the HpaII methylation-sensitive restriction enzyme is a cost-effective method to pinpoint unmethylated CpGs at single base-pair resolution. However, it has the drawback of addressing only CpGs in the context of the CCGG site, leaving out the remainder of the possible 16 XCGX tetranucleotides in which CpGs are found. We expanded MSCC to include three add...
متن کاملGenetic and Epigenetic landscape of Germline Stem Cells
Elucidating the critical epigenetics events involved in differentiation and reprogramming of cells to primordial germ cells (PGCs) is among the interesting issues in stem cell research. Here, I will talk about critical transcription factors and global hypomethylation in development of germ cells. Evidence strongly suggests that the earliest PGCs emerging in the E7.25 mouse embryo epiblast have...
متن کاملDistinct DNA methylation patterns associated with active and inactive centromeres of the maize B chromosome.
Centromeres are determined by poorly understood epigenetic mechanisms. Centromeres can be activated or inactivated without changing the underlying DNA sequences. However, virtually nothing is known about the epigenetic transition of a centromere from an active to an inactive state because of the lack of examples of the same centromere exhibiting alternative forms and being distinguishable from ...
متن کاملI-50: Embryo Loss Due to Epigenetic Anomaliesin the Male Germ Line: Role of Estrogen
Background: To investigate if aberrant methylation and expression of imprinted genes of the Igf2-H19 locus in the spermatozoa and embryos could be a paternal epigenetic factor involved in early embryo loss To elucidate the role of estrogen in acquisition of the imprinting at the Igf2-H19 locus during spermatogenesis Materials and Methods: Adult male rats of Holtzman strain were administered tam...
متن کاملGenome-wide hypomethylation in human glioblastomas associated with specific copy number alteration, methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase allele status, and increased proliferation.
Genome-wide reduction in 5-methylcytosine is an epigenetic hallmark of human tumorigenesis. Experimentally induced hypomethylation in mice promotes genomic instability and is sufficient to initiate tumorigenesis. Here, we report that global hypomethylation is common in primary human glioblastomas [glioblastoma multiforme (GBM)] and can affect up to an estimated 10 million CpG dinucleotides per ...
